Elantris by Brandon Sanderson
4.0

This is both one of Sanderson‘s earlier novels and the first non-storm light archive book of his that I’ve read. Which I note only because I was so curious what I would think of his writing, and it really shouldn’t be a surprise to me that I enjoyed it so much. This is such a good standalone fantasy book. There’s lots of political scheming, a mystery to solve, and an arranged marriage, which gives us the tiniest little bit of romance (which I greatly appreciate). And though you can tell that Sanderson’s writing has matured over the years, he still manages to create a rich and complex world with well developed characters.
