Maybe this would have been better if I'd (been alive then) and read it in the 60's. Although I was mildly interested to see what would happen to Marian, the main character, I really didn't like the story or the majority of the characters, and the endling was very "blah." Marian's friend, Clara, was particularly annoying, especially when she says terribly mean things to her children. Honestly, I feel like reading this book made my grumpy. Ugh.
