Although there are a ton of Christmas things mentioned in this book, it did not feel Christmassy enough to me. For a Christmas book, there wasn't enough magic or warmth. Both Matteo and Cara felt like really cold people, so it was hard to warm up to either of them or to root for them at all. And (and that's totally a me thing), I'm getting very tired of mentions/quotes/associations with Jane Austen. Plus, if you snob on Hallmark movies, it's insulting. All in all, this was cold and bland, and the plot fell flat. It's disappointing really because I absolutely loved Canadian Boyfriend by this author, and now diving into her backlist, I'm finding maybe CB was her best one.
