This book has some of the clunkiest writing and confusing world building. The world building was achieved by creating a main character that doesn’t seem to know anything about her family or the world she lives in despite being a researcher recently entering into adulthood. I had to stop reading when she needed a big tall man to help her with her secret project of reading ancient runes that were too high up for her tiny petite frame. Come on. This was very hyped by the author and her “team” of artists and is currently experiencing a lot of criticism and backlash. While it’s obviously not the authors fault for hyping up her book and getting a bunch of preorders, I hope she takes the feedback and improves her writing as a result.
