I loved this author duo’s book “The Wife Between Us” and was excited for this one when it first came out. Somehow I only just got to it and was a bit disappointed. I loved the first half but felt the end was predictable and rushed.

Marissa is desperate to get her husband Matthew to forgive her for her infidelity. She takes him to Avery, a “therapist” who’s lost her license for unconventional methods. Avery quickly sees that Marissa and Matthew are keeping tons of secrets from each other and vows to do whatever she can to divulge them to save this marriage.

The alternating POVs and flashbacks to when Marissa and Matthew started dating as teenagers kept this a page turner. I was so hooked for the first half, really not knowing which way this was going to go. But then I saw the big reveal coming a mile away and found the resolution lacking. I do love this author pair (and Pekkanen’s latest solo book “Gone Tonight.”) I’ll keep reading them in the future but this not my fav thriller by any means. I did also love there being a main character with my name in it! It so rarely happens lol.
