I read this in one sitting. It is heavy. It is uncomfortable. It is dark. It is also necessary.

This book gives you a short but deep insight into how sexual assault affects men. It was horrid and heartbreaking but a story that I think everyone NEEDS to read because it’s a topic that isn’t spoken about enough.

When I finished it, my first thought was that I wished the book had given more of an insight from the perpetrator’s perspective. But then I thought about it , and in real life, survivors of assault unfortunately almost never get an answer or explanation of what happened to them, so I guess the lack of insight in this book is an unfortunate but truthful representation.

The combination of formats (tv transcripts, tweets, phone calls, journal) also made for a really engaging story.

Amber Tamlyn does not hold back so if sexual assault is something you don’t think you can read about right now, I’d avoid this book.
