When I first started this book, I was reading it through the context of it being a fantasy novel. I'm not a huge fantasy person, so I found myself dragging through the book. About halfway through the book, I found myself googling something and stumbled across this blog post (https://readbytiffany.com/2020/11/15/everything-you-need-to-know-before-you-read-the-poppy-war-by-r-f-kuang/) and it completely changed the way I was reading this book.
