This book was so interesting. It's different to most other fantasies I've read, but I found myself unable to put it down. It's very well written. There was a lot of world building to be done, and the author managed it without it feeling like a big info dump.

We have two POVs, Yeeran and Lettle. Despite being sisters, it's clear from the start that they're completely different. I found myself gravitating more towards Lettle than her sister.

While there is some romance, it takes a back seat to everything else, which given the overall tone of the book wasn't surprising. I did feel like both went from zero to 100 fairly quickly. Especially when one's avoiding a prophecy and the other has a good reason to be hated by their interest.

I did find a lot of the twists predictable, like I was waiting for the characters to catch up to what I already knew. But there were some I'd missed, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where the story goes in the next book.

I'm struggling with how to rate the book because while I found it interesting and I will continue the series, i can't say that I love it. I recognise that the writing of the world is good but I don't feel anything when I think about it. However, I will say that I admit this book isn't something I'd usually read, and that may be the issue there, I'd imagine if this is your vibe you'll love it.
