Idk how to rate this.

As a licensed therapist and having worked with a lot of clients with heavy and complex trauma, I hear some fucked up shit. The stuff in this book barely phased me in all honesty. I know what people are capable of and then some.

The difficulty with rating it is: the writing itself was good. The trauma porn of POC is not and is honestly offensive.

When you look at it from a strict psychological perspective, this story really does show how easily the world and our experiences in it shifts and alters our thought processes. And in that way, this book was good.

Outside of that? Yeah….. idk.

And the content warnings are for real and should be listened to if you aren’t accustomed to this kind of content whether in reading/other media or by exposure because you help others with their traumas (such as being a therapist. Which means I should probably talk to MY therapist about why this book didn’t phase me….)
