I enjoyed the book, not so much for the story but for the study of a time, place, culture quite different from my own. Despite the differences, I did find certain themes to be applicable, particularly the theme of change. I think it is definitely worth reading, but for folks who enjoy fast-paced, action-packed adventure types of stories, this one probably won't be particularly enjoyable.
