Last Woman Standing by Amy Gentry

On the surface, this is a fun revenge thriller that takes place in the Austin comedy scene. There are some unexpected twists and interesting characters. But the backbone of the story is its intense anger at the ways in which men abuse their power and casually damage the lives of women. Reading this book is like walking a gauntlet of every example of atrocious male behavior. While a lot of that stuff is harrowing and difficult to endure, I am glad that a thriller like this has the nerve to tackle that subject matter.
