Patient by Bettina Judd

challenging emotional slow-paced

5.0

This collection is absolutely breathtaking - probably one of my favorite poetry collections I've ever read.

Judd blends archival research, personal narrative, memory and hauntology into a complex collection that is simultaneously horrifying and liberating. I will certainly return to this book again and again.

Some of my favorite poems were: After Memory; The Researcher Contemplates Venus; Haunted By the Living, I Talk to the Dead; Of Air and Sea; A Diagnosis Is an Ending.

tw: medical/scientific racism, misogynoir, slavery
