Exile & Pride: Disability, Queerness, and Liberation by Eli Clare
emotional
reflective
medium-paced
5.0
descriptions in the first half of the book were so poetic and really spoke to me while being interspersed with really solid theory. second half of the book focuses more on an examination of historical forces impact modern experiences and the role of personal histories on impacting our identities
Graphic: Ableism, Child abuse, and Rape
Moderate: Homophobia, Incest, Transphobia, Medical content, Medical trauma, and Lesbophobia
Minor: Alcoholism, Animal death, Racial slurs, and Racism
if more detailed descriptions of childhood sexual abuse are a trigger, they are isolated to the second half if the book other than brief mentions
