The Alice Network by Kate Quinn

This was a really tough book, but I loved it. The chapters jumped from WWI to postWWII as it told the story of 2 women who would eventually meet with a bizarre commonality. In the beginning, I really hated when the book jumped back to WWI because I was just so on edge about what I'd be reading - just full of nerves reading about what Eve was going through. Eventually, the space between the chapters merged and the 2 time periods became more fluid as Eve's and Charlie's stories became more entwined.

I highly encourage people to read this book, if only to be reminded that France was twice occupied by evil occupiers. I think that we're getting to a point where WWII seems so far away that WWI is barely thought of and recognized as the horrible atrocity that it was. And in both wars, there were women bravely spying for their countries. This book does a great job of lifting their stories to light.
