This is definitely the book where the series takes off. The first two books are mostly about exploring the regions outside the Sacred Valley and this book is where the actual dynamics come into play. A significant fraction of the book was about their training and leveling up which was fun to read about, especially Lindon's arc. Eithan is definitely my favorite character so far and I really like his dynamic with Lindon. I would like to see more of Yerin's backstory as well. It ticks me off a little that the iterations and reports still feel like Greek and Latin to me even after the third book. This is probably the first fantasy series, especially a long one that I've enjoyed in quite a while.
