A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas
5.0

I. Love. This. Silly. Little. Girlie. Series. You can pry these tropes out of my cold dead hands. Firstly, hands down, best choice Madam Sarah J. made for this series was having Nesta be the focus of an entire book. Absolutely, without a doubt, bar non, Nesta is the greatest ACOTAR character. She is messy and complicated, with so much self-loathing for her flaws and choices, and her journey in this book just has to be experienced. I root for her so much and she is so satisfying and kickass to follow as an MC. And Nesta gifted us the best form of love there is: the motherfucking girl gang. Finally, it has to be said….. Cassian > Rhys. FIGHT ME. I adore me some Rhys/Feyre (see my previous reviews) but Cass/Nesta……. They’re next level, I am totally down bad. All in all, 10/10 as per usually Ms. Sarah J. and pls bless us with the next one soon. Pls see below for my one issue.

For the love of all that is holy, I cannot articulated the frustration and annoyance I have with the “this woman is extremely overpowered and instead of working the story and its universe to allow for that much power to be concentrated in one character (read: a woman character), she must die or sacrifice that power for others” trope. Thank f Nesta didn’t die AND she gave the power to save another woman character (her sister, as well as nephew and brother-in-law) but I still must angrily point it out whenever it appears in this genre. WRITE OVERPOWERED WOMEN AND LET THEM STAY THAT WAY……. Still 10/10 am obsessed thou.

Also, Nesta was right to tell Feyre she and the baby weren’t gonna survive childbirth Boooo Rhys, that choice as a partner was -4000/10 my dude.
