I really liked it. I loved the characters, the politics, the friendships, the geekiness, and the earnestness. This was such a lovely read.
Now were the politics at the end believable? Of course not, especially having seen the vitriol unleashed (and continuing to get worse every day) after 2016. I absolutely understood how the author felt after the 2016 election. (And honestly, I wonder if how that will affect how authors write in the future. It's harder to believe people are generally good now, at least for me.
The Harry Potter references were a little jarring, but my guess is that Rowling's TERF beliefs weren't as well known when this book was being written.
But really there was a whole lot to love about this book. It just made me happy.
