The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

4.0

4.25 stars!

I felt a little slump coming, so I knew I had to switch it up - and this magical romance turned out to be the perfect next pick!!

The characters were so loveable, especially Iwan's younger version. It took me a bit to warm up to the future/present Iwan, but it all worked out well in the end (even though I would've liked to see more of the romance between Clementine & Iwan, particularly towards the end). I loved seeing them come together during different periods of their lives and giving the other encouragement & support in ways they both weren't fully aware of.

This book also handles themes of grief and loss, leading to some raw & emotional parts, but the author managed to strike just the right balance with the warm & light-hearted moments. While Clementine was trying to make sense of her circumstances, I was cheering her on from the sidelines as she found ways to overcome her struggles and find the beauty in life again. The journey of healing & self-forgiveness was depicted beautifully.

For me, Ashley Poston has certainly become an author to look out for and I'm excited to read more from her in the future!
