I savored listening to this book. It felt like reading an Outlander book but with faster pacing and fewer things to keep track of. I loved Martha the main character and her devotion to bringing Justice for her patient Rebecca Foster, who was raped by the town judge, North. Martha’s detective work, coupled with her midwife work, meant that there was never a dull moment in the story. I also appreciated the “quiet moments” of the book when she described her relationship with her husband and children. Overall, I really really enjoyed this one and would definitely recommend it to people who enjoy historical fiction.
Graphic: Misogyny, Medical content, Murder, Pregnancy, and Gaslighting
