172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad
3.0

I wanted to really enjoy this book as it's one that's been on my TBR for probably 6-ish years and I finally decided to pick it up

It was just "good". It read more like a young teen book rather than a YA book (which I think it's supposed to be...) i.e so many characters will say "as you all know" to shove in some exposition: one specific example is when one character goes "as you all know I'm the pilot for this mission..." when they could have just said "As your pilot..." which would have conveyed the same information without sounding so unnatural.

I REALLY liked the premise but the pacing had... a lot of issues. The main one being you don't even get to the moon until 50% in the book so then it just has rush everything from there to get to the ending...

I really enjoyed the 3 separate kinds of premonition that the 3 main characters have to kind of warn them off of going to moon - it would have been cool to have answers though like what gave them the warnings? since in one case it's made clear that only one of the main characters saw it and no one else did.............

So, the big bad............ I guessed what it would be like 10%(?) in, whenever it is that you get shown that photo with the guy in the background that coupled with the cover for the edition I read I knew from the start we were gunna be dealing with a doppelgänger kind of enemy.... it had SO MUCH potential but kind of did literally nothing with it... like yes, stuff happened but really there was only one good bit where you find out Midori had already been snatched way before we thought she would have been... although her turning on Mia was so stupid like why did she wait and give no sign prior to that.......????????

Basically, in the end, although I really wanted to love it, it was just dumb and fell flat.. Like yes I know this is meant to be a YA book but it was still boring cause like nothing really happened...

Yes, I read the ending for the big "twist". Very cringe, not my thing.
