Well, the first 50% of this book I was sure I would be giving it 5 stars. I loved the letters and the dynamic between Jacob and Briana. I loved the diversity, the funny moments, the settings, the jokes, the descriptions.

Then the last 50% of the book (specifically the last quarter) totally ruined my opinion and honestly upset me in times.

What I liked
✅Anxiety representation - I really related to so much of Jacob’s anxious moments and the descriptions
✅The letters! It was such a sweet point in the book
✅Alexis from Part of Your World (and Daniel) are in the book but still functions as standalone
✅The hospital setting, it gave me Grey’s vibes
✅Fake dating trope, one of my faves
✅The descriptions of the homes, I could easily picture both Briana & Jacob’s homes

What I didn’t like

❌Both times the characters have sex in the book they are at moments where they’re either drunk or upset and absolutely shouldn’t be having sex
❌Also, no protection is mentioned…like they’re 30+ year old doctors?? Do they not know better?
❌I understand why when Briana runs into Nick that she’s upset what’s her face is pregnant and then Briana reveals that she had previously had a miscarriage. I get why it wasn’t revealed until this point but it ultimately kind of bugged me that it felt thrown in there.
❌THE MISCOMMUNICATION TROPE - literally neither Jacob or Briana expressed what was upsetting them at times and I think that they had the kind of fake but real relationship where they could’ve talked it out. The fact that they went from having sex to sentences later saying hurtful things and walking out…where was the editor? It really needed to have been better spaced. Besides the fact the slow burn took 75% of the book, we barely get half a page of the couple being happy to being thrown apart. COME. ON.
