Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati
4.0
I found this book very enjoyable and Diana Gabaldonish. However, the place I saw that it differed was in the descriptions. I love descriptions but I did find that at times it was a bit too much. Like, in the middle of almost getting your head bashed in and dying, you see things that no one would notice: flower petals dropping. It's true that the book would not have suffered and would have been a lot shorter if it was not so descriptive. But I understand that it would have been a hard line to draw because I did enjoy the feelings of being in the story. Donati was able to paint such a vivid description of the landscape, the people, the homes, etc. that I did "see" it all.
The story itself was wonderful and very educational. Native Americans during that time were not treated well at all and it was so very sad. We got a big taste of it all in this tale. The conflicts were realistic and the love story was strong. However, as much as I loved the two main characters and their love story, it wasn't as strongly felt as with Jamie and Claire. It lacked a little.
I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend it to anyone that loves the Outlander series, historical romances, and a great story with a strong female lead.
