A good introduction the world of Castellane and a decent start to a series. There is strong world-building right at the beginning with split POV between two main characters. The book was filled with more political intrigue than action/adventure and you're left wondering what happens next. There are lots of unanswered questions with certain plot points and you're left wondering what is the significance.  Enjoyable and well-written, but could've been cut down 100 pages shorter.
