ik0nik 's review for:
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
by Stephen King
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon is good, really good, but not in the way I was expecting. This is my first King novel and maybe I went into it with the wrong expectations, but I finished it with a full heart. What an amazing story. Quite possibly one of the most literal titles of any book, Trish was a character all of us, even the eldest of adults could learn a thing or two from.
I waffled between 4 and 5 stars on this one because the baseball game narrations were slowing the flow of the book for me but I was so captivated by the story I couldn’t put the book down. I’ll read more King but I’ll purposefully seek out something more traditional next time. If you’re a fan of the woods, of survival, or heck just looking for a good story this one is highly recommended. Not horror in any real sense but gripping all the same.
