When the Wolf Comes Home by Nat Cassidy
4.25
dark tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

FORMAT: Combo physical & audio, leading me to realize that Helen Laser is now an auto listen narrator for me

RECAP: One night, struggling actress Jess finds a 5 Y/O runaway outside her apartment, sparking a violent clash with the boy’s father & sending them on the run. As brutal & surreal events unfold, Jess realizes the horror they face is far worse than she imagined - when the wolf comes home, no one is safe.

REVIEW: I felt like this book lost momentum towards the end, maybe around the 70% mark? But even so, I really enjoyed it. Slight plot twist at the end was interesting, too. The imagery the author evoked was INSANE - such vivid (yet horrific) descriptions! Definitely recommend reading the afterword, as it provides insight into how Cassidy's own father was an inspiration for this book (not in the 'horror' sense).
