Pipe Dreams

4.5 Stars! So seriously, why am I only just now discovering these books?! I can't believe it's taken me so long to find them! I'm in love with them! Clearly I need to read more hockey romances. Maybe go to a few more games too...
Anyway, I will admit that it was interesting getting to see Lauren's story. In the other books, while she was definitely a little...well, meanish, it also definitely felt like there was a lot more to things than met the eye. I did like the way she started trying again. Yes, at first things were hard because of the past, but as she started just doing the job, and spending time with people, it got better. I did feel bad for all her revelations when people were surprised at her (Georgia and Ari coming to the hotel room, some of the interactions when she was in the box, etc), but at least she started working to be better. Didn't hurt that she was able to be a fan girl again. I liked how she handled Elsa too. Even if things hadn't happened at the hotel room, it seemed like she was just going to keep trying, no matter what. I did wish there'd been a little more done regarding the rumors that had been spread about her from when she and Mike were a couple before.
Mike was awesome. I liked the fact that he was doing everything he could for Elsa, to the best of his ability. He was still trying to figure parenthood out, especially single parenthood of a thirteen year old, but he was doing his best. The couple of times he got on Elsa, especially when he'd told her about Shelley being ashamed of her, while the actual words might not have been the best, I felt that that conversation had needed to be had for a while. Going back to wishing there'd been more done, it seemed like Mike knew but he never actually said anything. Granted, that could have been because he didn't care since he knew the truth but that just feels like something you'd want to crush pretty fast IMO.
