End Game
by G.A. Mazurke, Serena Akeroyd
A little dark to go with the light.
This is my first time reading a book by this author and it was a whole new world to dive head first into. I had no idea it would get as heavy as it did at times, but it was done so well I wanted to keep reading to see where it went.
Liam and Gracie have gone through it and at times you just ache for them. It’s obvious they are meant for one another, but life and complications always seemed to keep them apart. He plays professional Hockey and she’s from a Hockey family where she feels forever eclipsed by her famous brothers. Liam actually grew up with her and her brothers as one of the billeted boys her family raised and took care of. They are both living mostly alone and trying to deal with some major trauma they each carry. You get to see them work through that while trying to navigate a love that’s been brewing for years. It’s at times heartbreaking, but both these characters have such a strong fighting spirit, you’re constantly rooting for them.
This book is part hockey romance with a little mafia thrown in and some spicy spicy scenes you won’t soon forget. I’ll definitely be diving into the rest of this world, because its characters are fantastic and this author knows how to weave a story. Great read!
Updated Review for Audiobook!
The audiobook was absolutely fantastic! Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Brentmoor nailed these characters. Teddy conveyed everything from heartache, fear and longing to determination, spice and love. To be honest he could probably read me the phone book and I’d listen, but that’s because he expertly brings characters and any story to life. This book was no exception. What a powerhouse performance! Samantha really brought Gracie to life for me as well expertly conveying Gracie’s strength, hurt and tenacity, but most importantly her love. I couldn’t be happier with this entire audiobook. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this cast and highly recommend adding this to your next listen. You won’t be sorry.
