Familial dramas set around halloween with a spooky setting. I wish this story focused more on the vintage Halloween children and the story of “the cunning man” instead of the family stories. It seemed like the family/neighborhood drama was the primary story and the Halloween setting was used to slightly move those plots ahead, whereas the pitch was flipped. The story was fine enough to not DNF but not a strong story at all. The ending was especially weak in my opinion. Also, there was wayyy too many povs. Just when you think he’s done introducing character povs another one pops up, again and again… and again.
I did love the cunning man character and the descriptions of him were chilling. I wish we got more of him in action than lore.
