This was a sweet, soft slow-burn romance centered around Basie, an immortal 77-year-old perpetually stuck at the physical age of 25. Upon loss of his mother, his only other immortal companion, he sets off intending to leave his small town, his house, and all belongings behind. Instead he finds himself enthralled by the new owner of the house, choosing to stay in town to get to know Kit despite the strong urge to flee from any rooted relationships. This explores Basie's relationship not just with Kit but also his community. It was warm and cozy with sweet and diverse characters.
