Loved the world building. Unique magic system, and l love anything with spellcasters in real-world settings. Sloane was fine as a main character, but the fact that she was really bad at talking to other people meant that most of the other characters felt flat. It’s hard to develop a character when your only POV protagonist won’t have any meaningful conversation with them. There are definitely some slow sections in terms of plot, but the world building happening between chapters via new articles, government memos, and academic texts about magic theory kept me hooked.
