Octavia Butler is an amazing storyteller. The way this book is narrated and the different characters perspectives contributes to how real it feels. A lot of the things that are meant to be fiction feel so real and plausible in the state of the world these days. It might not be the full reality of the US but it definitely is the reality of other countries and groups of people.

This sequel is more of an emotional rollercoaster than the first and the development of things are so real that is heartbreaking.

I said this about the first book and I reiterate it for the second too. This books should be used in a high school or college English class for their form, storytelling and the story itself. A great addition to a bookclub list since there is SO much to talk and discuss about every little detail in the books.
