The 22 Murders of Madison May by Max Barry

5.0

From very early on in reading, I truly loved this. Definitely a new favorite. The take on parallel universes was unique, with tokens and "moorings" being the key to traveling. It made me question what I would bring as my own mooring if I were to travel to another universe. Some of my qualms were I do wish the book had more of an explanation on how universe travelling works, who that mysterious group was, and how multiverse travelling was originally discovered. I need the backstory!! Perhaps we could get a sequel explaining, Max Barry?? I both loved and was kinda dissatisfied with Hugo's ending.
Spoiler I really wanted him to find his wife or choose to settle in a universe that made him happy. For him to go through the multiverse checking on Maddie seemed partially like a waste? And, I wasn't convinced Felicity loved any of those Gavin's and I thought she would break up with him in the end, not marry the man.

The last version of Maddie was my absolute favorite version of her, and I did not see that ending coming!! The author did amazing at writing badass women characters and I enjoyed the action and complexities of Felicity and Maddie. Also, I won't be able to unsee the name Clayton now without getting creeped out (I actually saw a package addressed to a Clayton in my apartment building that made me pause haha). I would highly recommend to any sci-fi or thriller fans.
