Salvatrice by Diane Portman-Ray

5.0

*Slight spoilers*

Salvatrice is book #3 in the Malavita series; it's a second chance, mafia and secret baby romance. Our hero Roman made cameo appearances in the first two books in this series. Roman is Gino's (the hero from Muse) "consigliere", friend and lawyer, and Salvatrice is the woman he couldn't forget; "the one who got away". Roman has been in love with Salvatrice for so many years; he never stopped loving her. Like a ghost, she haunted his dreams and thoughts; she's always there, lingering in the back of his mind. When Salvatrice discovered that Roman kept a secret or, more like, he lied to her she bolted, leaving everything behind. Six years later, Roman and Salvatrice meet again and he's in for one hell of a surprise.

Ahh... Diane Portman-Ray, you've outdone yourself with this novel! I mean, I enjoyed reading "Muse" and "Catherinelle", but this one! It gave me all the feels! The combination of the elements and all the characters from the previous books being featured in this book, was executed amazingly! Hence, Salvatrice easily became my favorite book out of this series. It does jump back and forth in time; the past and present events connected so well with each other. Roman... Roman! He expressed his love and passion for Salvatrice so vividly! Yes, he was angry, hurt and upset that Salvatrice kept their daughter from him. But it doesn't change the fact that he still loves and cares for her. And he would move heaven and earth for the woman he loves; the mother of his child and his daughter, sweet little Remy.

Remy is a smart adorable little girl; she's definitely a cuteness overload!! Remy and Roman instantly got along when they first met. I enjoyed seeing both timelines of Salvatrice's character. She's nurturing, gentle, loving and caring. But there's a side to her that Roman brings out: she's also a strong willed, sassy and fiery character with a sharp tongue. Salvatrice has certain fears; she loves Roman but, something was holding her back. It was a guessing game, and believe me, some of her actions irritated me! But as I read more chapters, I slowly started to understand why Salvatrice didn't give in so easily. And it absolutely shattered me when all was revealed. Overall, an epic conclusion to this fantastic series! And I cannot wait to see what Diane has in store for us!
