Miracle in the Andes: 72 Days on the Mountain and My Long Trek Home by Nando Parrado

adventurous challenging inspiring medium-paced

3.5

The pace of the book was good and the choices at what points to give us background 'stories' amongst the current events were well placed. Truly a harrowing tale and an incredible feat from Nando and the other survivors.
I respected his brutal honestly about the grislier parts of those weeks and admitting how harshly he himself acted at times.
The last section listing the other survivors felt odd and a bit over the top at times. Surely not everyone was the best person in the world ever. But it served its purpose well.
A bit all over the place and preachy at times but it managed to pull a point together at the very end about perseverance etc etc.
In all it was interesting to read a true event and definitely led to some good discussions with the book club.
