Desert Flowers by Simon Bruni, Paul Pen

4.0

While I wouldn't say that I enjoyed this book, it was a thought-provoking and riveting story. There were a couple hanging questions, like what happened to the oldest sister and the history of the parents, that were never really resolved, but they also weren't absolutely necessary to make it complete. I vacillated between being enraged, frightened, saddened, dismayed, and discouraged throughout the telling. I couldn't put the book down and I cried at the end. It is well worth reading.
