This book takes a break from everything in the previous to follow Chaol. We don’t see any other characters, but that’s okay because he is the most likable of the main ones. We see good character development and a deserved and sensible romance (if very obvious that it was coming). Less action and intrigue than most, but I found the characters to be far more likable and enjoyable to experience. Definitely the best book in the series since the second or third.
