A Spindle Splintered is about a terminally ill young woman named Zinnia Gray. Zinnia is celebrating her 21st birthday - likely her last birthday - when she pricks her finger on a spindle and is launched into a fairytale world. As a lifelong Sleeping Beauty enthusiast, she's shocked to see her favorite fairytale princess, who also longs to avoid her curse. The two, along with Zinnia's loyal best friend, work to unravel the multiverse and save both women from their predetermined fates.

This is a beautiful, emotional story about the power (and hidden darkness) of fairytales, and coping with terminal illness. It's a story where fairytale princesses can take their fates into their own hands and make their own choices. This is yet another amazing novella by Alix E. Harrow. The Six Deaths of the Saint remains my favorite work of short fiction by her, but this was nearly as good!
