The Summer of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther
5.0
What a refreshing summer read! I absolutely adored Meredith & Wit’s relationship! Their banter was right on and so cute! This story focuses on, Meredith Fox, whom has just graduated high school and is getting ready for college. After dealing with the sudden loss of her sister, things the past year have been close to unbearable. However, this summer she is determined to change. The annual family vacation to Martha Vineyard is the perfect opportunity for Meredith to connect with her family again and since there is a wedding this year her whole extended family will be there! Cue in Wit, a “witty” and cute groomsman Meredith makes an alliance with for their annual Fox family game of Assassin. Little does Meredith realize, as the week progresses, Wit begins to bring out a side of her she disregarded ever since her sister passed. Now, she risks the possibility loosing the game as well as her heart. This story is a beautiful ode to new found love as well as dealing with the lost of a close loved one. I loved everything about this book. From the cute nicknames they gave each other to the important themes of family, love, and grief. This book was a mix of TSITP by Jenny Han and Better than the movies by Lynn Painter. For those who’ve read BTTM, Wit reminded me so much of Wes!! This book was such a great summer read filled with T Swift, oranges
