This book is so heartbreakingly beautiful. After not being able to shut up about A Woman is No Man since I read it I was on the edge of my seat waiting for this one! And it did not disappoint.

Rum captures emotional abuse and breaking the cycle so perfectly. The visceral reactions I had while reading this were unmatched. I was emotional start to finish. If you saw me crying in the parking lot before my meeting after finishing this, no you didn’t.

Not much happens beyond Yara growing into herself and it’s perfect. Never once did I feel bored. I was rooting for Yara the entire time. Her character growth was soooooo good.

Apologies in advance to all my friends that I will be forcing to read.

Overall: Read immediately.

Favorite Character: Yara. But also Silas 🥹
