I could not for the life of me get behind this couple. On the surface, it should be great. I love a single mom reinventing and exploring herself and finally opening herself up to love again. I love the idea of a man falling head over heels for a kid, then the mom. But I cannot ship a couple when their connection is purely physical. And that's what this felt like to me. I get that romance novels are almost always guaranteed to have some sex. And I get that for most people reading sex scene after sex scene is something they love. And in no way am I shaming that or suggesting that it makes a book bad. But, if a relationship is physical, then it's physical. If that's the focus of the book, say so. I feel like when you try to bite off deep connection and a complex love story with a character who supposedly has a complex past, there has to be more. I feel like the sex cheapened the romance and I only got 60% through it.
