jgeisler 's review for:
The Black Box
by Michael Connelly
I became a fan of Connelly's Harry Bosch books about 6 months ago and have been reading (or listening) to them as fast as I can. I listened to this one. It's not up to Connelly's other HB books. The puzzle was easily figured out before the book was 1/4 finished and for the first time, the character really crossed the line of reasonable behavior. The head of the Unsolved Crimes group is no great leader, (why can't Connelly give us leaders who are reasonably qualified???), but I found myself feeling that LT would have been fully justified if he had cancelled Harry's contract. And please, Michael Connelly, give your character a bit more concern about his daughter. Even I am tired of his rationalizations and guilty comments as he leaves her alone for one more night of takeout pizza. It doesn't ring true given how much he went through to save her a few books ago.
