Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

5.0

Another heart-filling graphic novel from Oseman!

Whilst I am filled with some sadness that I now have to wait until 2023 for the fifth (and final) instalment in the high-school years of Nick & Charlie, this volume continues to tackle the darker topics of eating disorders, self harm and depression.

This volume, like it’s predecessors supports the teachings of healthy relationships. A partner cannot “fix” another; they can only support the other.

We also explore inpatient support briefly within these chapters, along with wider family dynamics and once again; coming out.

Our favourite boys have been through a lot in the last two years, and we’ve watched them change, grow and mature through many hardships.

Chapters five and six are told mostly introspectively through diary entries by Nick and Charlie almost catching us up on the last few months.
