Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills
4.0

I don’t usually read a lot of contemporary teen or otherwise. This book was a pleasant surprise moment after moment.
When we were first introduced to the love interest of the book my heart sank, here was another typical cute popular boy who falls for the nerdy girl. I was wrong, he wasn’t just a cookie cutter of a big shot. He was very three dimensional, in fact I would say all the characters were very well thought out and well written.

If I liked it so much why the 4 stars? The ending. I won’t say too much except that because of a lack of big villain, the big moment couldn’t be as big. You could say that’s because the characters were so human though. Real people aren’t bad or good, they are a mix of both and this book showed that beautifully. But for a climax there was no big enemy to overcome and thus the climax didn’t quite hit home enough.

Otherwise I loved it. Honestly. The characters were witty and actually funny. The sub plots of friendships were well developed. The struggles of getting over what an ex said felt real. It was a pleasant book to read, no nail bitting, no yelling at the characters, just funny and nice.
