Irresistible Revenge by Amanda Bentley
3.0

This book revolved around three characters: Daniel, Julianna, and Jake.

Daniel was Julianna's boyfriend. He was controlling AF, manipulative, and abusive. Julianna herself was a bit of a messy b—plenty aware of Daniel's red flags, but low-key into his unhealthy obsession with her. They were both problematic in their own ways.

Then, there was Jake. By comparison, Jake was flawless—and to me, came across as unrealistically perfect. He was too thoughtful, too understanding, too sweet, too selfless. He was more of a collection of positive traits than a real person, and that made him feel fake.

As for the story itself, short as it was, it managed to develop and resolve the conflict, while giving background and sufficient development to the characters, so kudos to the author.

And crazy as it may sound, the cheating per se wasn't even the most fucked up part of this novella. Wait until you read how Julianna decided to break up with Daniel. Now that is what I call toxic and fucked up LOL
