Gosh. I had high hopes for Emily Henry since I loved Beach Read so much.
The timeline was a bit all over the place. I didn’t really like the layout of it. For once, I wished it was in an ascending order. It didn’t particularly work for me. I loved the early years of their relationship. The trips they had and the little conversations they had. I didn’t find their big conflict that big of a deal? And I didn’t feel the impact of it when it was put by the end of the book. We spend the entire time reading about how this conflict strained their relationship so much and yet it was held off for so long, I started not caring. Close to half way through the book, I started wanting it to end which is never a good thing for books.
The chemistry and the dialogue between the two characters are amazing! Probably the saving graces of this book. Poppy is cute but a bit generic in the way that the girl is always loud and spontaneous. Alex is the uptight healthy one but he does have a vulnerable side. So, not much there. I do really like their relationship.
The writing was a bit hard to follow at first but it’s pretty easy to read afterwards.
