Ok, so let me preface this by saying the book is overall entertaining.

I felt like the story was very Twilight and True Blood (the tv show not the Sookie Stackhouse book series, because they are two very different vibes and narratives LOL ) inspired, with some Buffy and Angel vibes thrown in.

Damon meets Alexis and is immediately drawn to her and talks about how he knows she is the one for him. (Twilight vibe)
The bickering and how Alexis throws herself at him all the time (Buffy and Angel vibe) and the constant reminder of the consequences if they do physically connect (twilight vibe).
The main antagonist Darros and the beef going on there... (True Blood vibe)

Keep in mind, I did like the Twilight books (not the movies), I have watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer from start to finish like 3 times and I have watched True Blood from start to finish twice... so none of this is meant as an insult or a negative comment towards the story. Like I said, it was entertaining.

The things I did notice that took me out of the story was the overuse of the words "over enunciated" and that sometimes it was written as one word vs the correct two separate words. There were also a lot of GLARING grammatical errors that I feel could have been avoided. Any time I have to re-read a sentence to determine what is actually being conveyed, it takes me out of the story and that gets frustrating. There was also an over use of Alexis biting her bottom lip. I felt like with the amount of times she bit her lip, she would have the most chapped lips ever and perhaps Damon should have been handing her ChapStick rather than lighting her cigarettes.

The only other thing that took away from the story for me, was that Damon was constantly going back and forth personality wise, between being a soft simp for Alexis and being the confident protector with attitude towards her. I am not sure if that was meant to be a character flaw within their dynamic but I personally, would have liked him to have stayed in the confident protector with attitude mode. The snarkiness between them when he is in this mode was the most entertaining. But then again, I am not a girl that enjoys guys who are pushovers, so I just wasn't a fan of the soft simp mode as I felt he was whiny and I just wanted to slap him. But then again, there were moments I wanted to slap Alexis too.

These are just my opinions, I still recommend that anyone who loves vampire romances give this a read. It was a good one time read for me. It was fairly short and if life had not interrupted me so often, would have been a one session read.

I do want to thank Nattie Rhodes and the Coven of Chaos ARC and Street Team Facebook Group for allowing me to read this story. I will be checking out other works by Nattie Rhodes as I did enjoy her writing style overall.
