Witch Upon a Star
by Angela M. Sanders
The mystery in the beginning is fine. But the romance subplot is so freaking ridiculous that I keep getting side tracked by pure irritation. The author gives us many details about Sam—he loves opera, his weird smiling-but-inside-I’m-actually-frowning thing, he likes to cook—but the character still just comes off as flat. He gives no clear indication that he actually likes Josie which makes all her pining over him incredibly embarrassing. The whole ex-wife/baby things is just weird too. Why is Josie acting like a surrogate mother to his child when they’re not even halfway dating? Not to mention the whole town knows she has a crush on him??? Just painfully awkward. The part where she almost swoons over seeing him in a T-shirt and pajama pants nearly made me give up in the final few chapters.
Oh and the ending is godawful. Ridiculous. Unrealistic. Just embarrassingly bad. I regret sticking with this series for so long.
