I wanted to read this book because I loved Hannah’s videos on TikTok with her original idea of a bad guy having a fluffy assistant. I love supporting new authors and indie authors and was so happy when Hannah announced her debut novel.

This book has two points of view. The first is Evie Sage, she needs to support her family and her employment status isn’t just important, it’s vital. So, when a mishap with the most infamous Villain results in a job offer and naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but it’s even less so when she develops a teeny crush on her terrifying, temperamental but undeniably hot boss. Just as she’s getting used to severed heads that are suspended from the ceiling and the odd squidsh of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat and not the literal kind. Something rotten is growing in the kingdom of Rennedawn, and someone wants to take the Villain and his entire empire out. The second point of view is The Villian, he believes he is cold-blooded and will take no shit. Everyone in his business is terrified of him and rightly so. But Evie is the only one who knows his coffee order, will have inappropriate humour with him and will be straight up with him. The only thing he can’t stand is how happy and fluffy she is. But he needs to focus on his revenge to King Benedict and the mole that has crept into his business and knows everything. Can he stay focused enough to protect his empire? Or has his cold heart warmed to Evie.

I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a cute and funny read. I didn’t think I would be squealing or kicking my feet as much. It really warmed my heart seeing it from the beginning with the series on TikTok to seeing some of the writing process to then having it in my hands. I knew I was going to love Evie just because Hannah manages to portray her so well. I loved that she went from questioning herself to standing up for herself and be able to kick ass. I loved her friendship with Tati and I hope we see more of that over the series. The Villian was exactly how we expected him, and I loved that we got the Dual POV and that he felt first!! I love the change from girl falls first something and it was worth it. Evie has the book for like 70% but when we do get The Villain’s POV it was so in-depth, and we got into the mysterious side about why he is the way he is.

I think it was a great first book, but I felt like it was set up for the second book with how it ended which is fine, I just expected it to be a standalone and I wanted more. Plus, I thought there was going to be a bit of spice and expect for both having dirty thoughts and a couple of awkward unplanned kisses there wasn’t much.

I cannot wait to see how Hannah carries on this series and I can’t wait to see what Evie has planned next.
