The Wanderer by Sharon Creech

It pains me to put this as 'complete' in my bookshelf because I never did finish this book. Another one of those that I loved the look of at the Scholastic Book Fair in elementary school, but I was never able to really get into it. Something about the relationship between Sophie and Cody just eeked me out, even as a child, and the plot never caught my attention.
Growing up in a landlocked state, I always longed for the ocean. Perhaps I picked this up thinking that it would be similar to [b:The Music of Dolphins|26482|The Music of Dolphins|Karen Hesse|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1167811821s/26482.jpg|2335785] with lavish descriptions of the open sea. Perhaps I picked it up because the 90's paperback cover had a somber girl looking just past the camera, not unlike the [b:Coming Home|1002520|Coming Home (Heartland, #1)|Lauren Brooke|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347269724s/1002520.jpg|988013] cover. Whatever it was that made me consider this, the prose never caught my attention. What a shame.
