Inked in Lies by Giana Darling
5.0
Spice: 2.5/5
Plot: 5/5
Was this book perfect? No. Was it a 5 star read? Yes. Hands down. Absofuckinglutely.
Nova and Lila; chefs mother fuckin kiss. Perfection. I’m not normally a huge fan of friends to lovers but god damn. The way we got their history for the first 30% or so made such a difference in this book. Just everything about them starting from the very beginning and the way they met and then continuing on throughout the entire book, could not have been written any better. There’s so much I want to break down in this review but I just can’t cuz I refuse to spoil it for anyone.
Nova…. Fucking eh. I just want to wrap that man up in my arms and tell him exactly what Lila does. My heart broke for him. And Lila, my heart broke for her too. Fuuuck. I was so distraught and emotionally invested in these two I thought my heart was trying to claw its way out of my body at one point. Dramatic? Yes. But that’s exactly how it felt reading this lol.
I cannot go into more detail except to say, that there’s a reason everyone loves this book the most and it’s so hyped up. It’s 100% worth all of the praise it gets.
Full disclosure, it’s not perfect, just like the rest of the series isn’t. There’s some plot holes, some spelling and grammatical errors and one of the worst ick phrases I’ve encountered lol. Authors, for future reference if we could please refrain from using the term, “meaty club” to describe a dick, that would fantastic. Thank youuuu.
But once again, Giana has proven that when you have an amazing storyline, fantastic writing and some seriously incredible characters you can still have a 5 star book. Because at the end of the day the heart of the book is what it really comes down to, and the heart of this one is deep and gut wrenching and so so beautiful. So beautiful in fact that I just spent 80$ on a fucking stunning special edition of it lol. Yup, it was that good.

P.S. Go away now if you don’t want spoilers….
1. That fucking cunt of a therapist. Did anyone else wanna vag punch her as badly as I did!?
2. When we find out what actually happened with Meredith and how broken Nova was because of it. I was so wrecked for him.
3. When Nova just shuts the door in Lila’s face after she watches…. Fuuuuuck. That was when my stomach just collapsed. I’m pretty sure I actually stopped breathing for a minute.
4. When he tells her that he’s been hiding things in her tattoos! OMFG that might be the sweetest thing I’ve ever read. My heart was mush, it’s still mush. I will never get over this. It’s a new Roman Empire for me.
5. The way Nova broke when he looked at the inscription on the willow tree. I wept.
6. Do we think Javier is Lila’s dad? Cuz that’s kinda the vibe I’m getting and really leaning that way….
7. The way Irina got her face blown off… I felt really vindicated for everyone involved lol.
I could keep going lol, and I might at some point but fucking eh. I’m so glad y’all were right about this book. So THANK YOU to everyone who kicked my ass to read these!
